I would like to recognize an esteemed individual who has just completed his first 100 days as president of the EastWest Center in Honolulu. Hawaii. I am bpeaking of Victor Hao Li. a distinguished scholar who came to this challenging post from the Stanford University Law School. where he served with distinction for 9 years6 of them as the Lewis Talbot and Nadine Hearne Shelton Professor of International Studies. Dr. Li is internationally known for his research and writing on Chinas legal system and foreign trade practices. Born in China In 1941. his parents brought him to the United States. where he became a naturalized citizen in 1957. In recent years. Dr.
