Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970137202

These efforts would be at least cut in half if the present budget cuts continue. We cannot afford this significant regression. Mr. President. the recession hits Florida a little later than it hits the rest of the country. but we are not immune to its problems. It hits us hard especially when coupled with our special problems with staggering numbers of refugees. the citrus freeze. and delines in tourism. Like most States. our cLfUef industries have been shocked -by the skyrocketing Interest rates and economic growth has been crippled. The slack in these industries has been the catalyst for our high unemployment.
