Their extraordinary efforts have the support of our own great and free nation of countless dedicated Ukrainian Americans. and indeed of all Americans who cherish the blessings of freedom. As we pay tribute to this heroic devotion to freedom. we are also aware of the hundreds of thousands of Americans of Ukrainian descent who have made valuable contributions to the growth of America. The Ukrainian immigrant distinguished himself not only by his hard work and intelligence but also by his constructive citizenship and sense of justice. Ukrainian Americans have contributed to the economic and cultural development of America through their participation in the arts. science. politics. business. and other endeavors. We in Maryland are very fortunate to have a large and active UkrainianAmerican community.
