Speaker. on October 24. 1981. the Sephardic Hebrew Center in Los Angeles honored Louie "Lou" Hasson as their Man of the Year. The award was presented in recognition of Lou Hassons work on behalf of the Sephardic Hebrew Center spanning a period of over 40 years. The Sephardic Hebrew Center was founded in 1917 by a group of immigrants. mainly from the Isle of Rhodes. It has flourished all these years through the consistency of its purpose which has been the preservation of Judaism and the maintaining of the rich Sephardic culture. Lou Hasson has been at the very heart of the centers activities both in its religious and business affairs.
