Now we are told that we still have not cut enough. This program which provides important services to lowincome people. both urban and rural. is about to be cut further. Not only are we cutting off funds for many important communitybased organizations. which in my rural State are the only places to get services. we are also cutting off funds for small towns to receive assistance in developing clean water and decent housing and assistance for migrant farmworkers to receive help as they travel the Nation picking our food. Today I talked with the Office of Planning and Programing. the agency which administers this program in Iowa. They told me that if we cut this program further we are in effect killing it in Iowa.
