It is a symbol also of the diversity of America that has been responsible for the greatness of our Nation and continues to be a major source of our strength. It has been said of America that we have been the "halfbrother of the world." That certainly has been true. But it is also true that we have been dedicated to full brotherhood. full partnership in a land where all people. regardless of origin. can achieve their full potential. This dedication to this dream can be traced to Christopher Columbus. who is rightly credited with being the father of immigration. On Sunday. October 11. it will again be my pleasure to take part in the annual Columbus Day Parade in Newark.
