Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970079536

Mr. President. I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of former Gov. Michael DiSalle of Ohio. He died Tuesday while visiting Italy. from where his immigrant parents came at the turn of the century. Ohio has lost one of its most distinguished citizens and public servants. From being the energetic mayor of Toledo. to National Director of the Office of Price Stabilization in the Korean war. he was elected Governor of Ohio in 1958. Mike. DiSalle always mixed his hard work and 16hour days with humor and a wonderfully contagious laugh. His political opinions were proudly and firmly held. even as his manner was easy and unpretentious.
