The legal aid lawyers ignored this language and claimed that they could not tell which of their clients were illegal aliens. In my State. Legal Services lawyers were representing illegal aliens in immigration suits against the United States out of at least four different offices. One legal aid lawyer went to a building where illegal aliens were held pending deportation and solicited clients. My amendment would put an end to this practice. Many of my colleagues have said that the American poor need the help of Legal Service lawyers.
