I urged this House to direct its attention to the situation existing along our Mexican border. pointing out the need for understanding economic factors which cause people to leave their country and seek employment elsewhere. In that speech. I called the illegal aliens "wetbacks." a standard reference in those days. They are now termed "undocumented aliens." When I made the speech in 1970. I received no comment either from the administration at that time nor from any other observers. Changing only the title from "The Wetback Situation on the Mexican Border." to "The Undocumented Alien Situation on the Mexican Border." I respectfully request that the House give attention to its content:
