Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970066658

Now. over 3.100 days later we are still waiting for the Hanoi government to fulfill its legal and moral obligations. The issue of Vietnamera MIAs and POWs who remain unaccounted for has received much renewed interest with the recent return of the bodies of three missing American servicemen. Diplomatic concern has been heightened by the nearly 300 firsthand refugee sightings of Americans still being held captive in the jungles of Southeast Asia. But interest in unaccountedfor American POWs/MIAs has always been great on the part of a group known as the National League of Families. This organization is comprised of close relatives of the nearly 2.500 men who remain unaccounted for.
