Otherwise. there is no mention of the use of equipment by military personnel. The only other provision is the lending of military equipment. Now. this is very sophisticated equipment. Much of it needs to be operated by the military personnel. The amendment I have presented to the Judiciary Committees amendment does provide for the lending of the equipment. but also provides for the operation of the equipment by the military personnel for the purpose of surveillance. monitoring. tracking those who violate the narcotics laws. and those who are illegal aliens and contraband. So. those are provided specifically in the bill we are supporting here.
