We urge the United States to raise the issue of the Baltic States in international conferences and at the United Nations. We demand the wanton destruction of the Baltic peoples stop. The Soviet Union has deliberately sent millions of Lithuanians. Estonians. and Latvians into forced exile in Siberia. Others have been callously murdered. The persecution goes on to this day. I protestwith my other colleagues in this special orderagainst the terrible persecution the Catholic Church is suffering in Lithuania. Because the Lithuanians hold true to their ancient faith they find priests deported. churches closed. their nation subjected to a reign of terror. Mr. Speaker. the storm clouds are again gathering over Eastern Europe.
