In conclusion. Mr. Chairman. while my subcommittee and the full committee recognize the need for fiscal austerity in government. each member of the committeeon both sides of the aislebelieves that the funding and personnel levels in H.R. 3462. which were recommended by my subcommittee. are necessary for the proper enforcement of our Nations immigration laws. Mr. Chairman. I would again make reference to the trip that our subcommittee took and I would again like to extend to all subcommittee members my appreciation for their very hard work and for the attentiveness they gave to the subject matter. Our trip illustrated the very great depth of the immigration and refugee problems that we have in America. This bill will help solve some of these problems.
