I would like to call to the attention of my colleagues the outstanding career of a most remarkable surgeon. Dr. Rosario P. San Filippo. director of surgery emeritus of the Lutheran Medical Center. Brooklyn. N.Y. Dr. San Filippo was born in Sciacca. Sicily. in 1899 and he immigrated to the United States in 1906. He received his undergraduate education at Columbia University and received his M.D. degree in 1923 from the Long Island College of Medicine. He then served a rotating internship at the Norwegian Hospital of Brooklyn from 1923 to 1924 and has been associated with this institution ever since. the Norwegian Hospital was later to become the Lutheran Medical Center.
