Speaker. I rise in support of H.R. 2884. as amended by the Committee on Foreign Affairs last week. The bill provides for the distribution within the United States of the International Communication Agency film entitled "In Their Own Words." The film documents the mass exodus of Cuban refugees from Mariel Harbor. Cuba to the United States last spring. Interviews were conducted with some of the 125.000 Cuban refugees who participated in the sea shuttle to the Florida coast. Firsthand accounts of the events were provided by the fleeing Cubans. who described their departures and their aspirations for a future in America. Normally. films produced by the International Communication Agency are not made available to the U.S. public.
