This is why our resolution specifically urges the President and other executive branch officials to seek assistance from other nations in providing food. medicine. and other resources to the Somali. Helping Somalia would not only be a generous act on the part of the United States and other countries. it would also lead to new ties of friendship in the world among the countries involved. Mr. Speaker. I hope that the Members of the House will join me in supporting this resolution so that we might do our part to fulfill the humanitarian obligation of decent nations everywhere to the Somali refugees.
