He wrote several articles and has three patents. Since 1969 he has not worked on any projects that could be considered as being of a secret nature. From 1970 he has been active and outspoken in the issue of human rights in the Soviet Union. Shortly after he applied for permission to emigrate. he became a refusenik. He was forced to resign from his position. Vladimir is currently employed doing menial work in a factory. He spends his spare time teaching Hebrew. taking part in scientific seminars and other educational and cultural programs for fellow Jews. Vladimirs wife Elena Prestin also graduated from the Energetics Institute. and worked in a factory for the manufacture of lamps for electrovacuum apparatus before leaving her job.
