America means a place where he or she can work without censorship. without fear that the government will intervene and change the meaning of a work of sculpture. a line of poetry. or a stroke of a brush. To the critic it means the ability to point out. perhaps make fun of a flaw in the makeup of our social system. To the immigrant. America may mean not having to look over ones shoulder. not to worry about unfair imprisonment for ones deeds. America means all things to some people. some things to all people. but no matter who is asked.
