I am very pleased to inform you that on February 17. the Reuters News Service confirmed reports that Mr. Mendelevich had been released and allowed to emigrate to Israel after 10 intolerable years of imprisonment in the Soviet Union. Iosif Mendelevich has been pardoned from his harsh sentence of 12 years in prison and its extension of 3 additional years for his observance of the Jewish faith. After years of continual Soviet harassment and intimidation. his ordeal is now over.
