I rise today to honor Governor Ella Grasso. who served with me from 1971 to 1974 on the House Education and Labor Committee. Governor Grasso was an outstanding and steadfast supporter of education. human resource. manpower. and child nutrition programs. as well as of efforts on behalf of senior citizens and disadvantaged populations. I was privileged to serve with her on the Subcommittee on Agricultural Labor where she worked unstintingly on behalf of the migrant workers in her State and the Nation. She could be counted on in difficult of times to sort through the most complicated proposals being brought before the committee to come up with plausible solutions. As a Representative from one of Connecticuts most diverse districts.
