Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970006243

Madam President. it is with deep regret that I address my colleagues today concerning the death of Gov. Ella Grasso. Governor Grasso had a long and distinguished career serving the people of Connecticut. She has left a legacy of inspiration to me and other women interested in serving their country through political action. Ella Grassos life was a true example of the American dream. The child of Italian immigrants. she was proud of her working class background. She once boasted that it took her years to learn that "youse" is not the plural of you. Despite her modesty. Ella Grasso excelled academically.
