However. because of the intransigence of government of Vietnam and due to the current politicomilitary situation in Kampuchea (Cambodia). it has been extremely difficult to obtain any new or definitive information. Nonetheless. the U.S. Government continues to seek the assstance of these governments in obtaining the fullest possible accounting. The U.S. Government has received over 1.000 reports from Vietnamese refugees who claim to have seen Americans being held against their will in Vietnam. Our Government has investigated extensively every one of these reports. regrettably. none of the sightings have been substantiated. We will continue to investigate any reports we receive. however unlikely they may seem. in the hopes that one MIA may be located.
