Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960325726

The Mennonite people are lawabiding. productive members of society. When their land holdings in Mexico were placed in jeopardy. they sought a new life in the United States. Unfortunately. they were unaware of their legal status and were ordered out of the country after making a tremendous investment in farm property. Apparently. when this group first came to the United States. they naively believed that citizenship would be relatively easy to obtain. After being informed by the Immigration and Naturalization Service that they would be deported. the Mennonites sold their land at a substantial loss. They are now living and working in the Seminole. Tex.. and Boley.
