September 20. the German American Societies of Greater Chicago will present their 15th Annual von Steuben Day Parade. The parade will step off at noon. and I look forward to joining Americans of German descent in Chicago on the reviewing stand in commemorating the crucial and major contributions of this outstanding man in the winning of Americas independence. as well as the contributions of German Americans throughout the entire history of our country. America is a land of immigrants. and the immigrants who settled here from Germany have made countless and inestimable contributions to our Nations freedom and greatness. and to our Nations rich scientific. cultural. and economic life. After the colorful pageantry of the grand parade. which begins at Chicagos famous State Street and Wacker Drive. there will be an evening banquet in the Red Lacquer Room of the Palmer House Hotel.
