During the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Italians immigrated to this country to share in the American way of life. They left their home to build better lives for themselves. their children. and their fellow Americans. Through their hard work. sweat. and hopes. they added significantly to make this country the greatest Nation. Mr. President. the ItalianAmericans have proven themselves to be patriotic and loyal citizens of the United States of America. When American ideals and values were being threatened during World Wars I and II. the Korean war. and the Vietnam war. they distinguished themselves as courageous people along with all the other ethnic groups in this country.
