Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960299451

The article. written by Mr. Doan Van Toai. is a personal account of his imprisonment by the Vietnamese Communists in 1975 following the fall of South Vietnam. He was released from prison several years later. and eventually immigrated to the United States. where he is now doing research on Vietnam at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy of Tufts University. His account is only one example of the tremendous suffering experienced by the Vietnamese people following the fall of Saigon in 1975. It was exactly this type of totalitarian regime that we tried to prevent by participating in the conflict in Southeast Asia.
