Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960297461

Speaker. during the recent district work period several of my constituents expressed great disappointment over the way the U.S. Government handled the recent situation when socalled Iranian students demonstrated in the streets of Washington. They found it hard to believe that such a demonstration could be allowed. and were angry because the "students" were not deported immediately. It is clear to me that the Iranians have conducted themselves in the manner they have because they were confident that the U.S. Government would probably do no more than issue a mildly denouncing statement. or threaten with no intention of taking action.
