Hispanic youngsters made up a third of Dade Countys pupil population and. according to a report issued 2 years earlier. "they score well above other Dade students on English and math achievement tests." Listen: According to 1976 statistics. 72 percent of Cuban high school graduates went to college. By 1971. 12.800 loans had been given to Cuban college students. and reported U.S. News and World Report. Congress recently heard testimony that of these loans only 147 were delinquenta performance which outstrips the national average. Consider how Miami itself has benefited from this influx of Cuban refugees. Recognize that most Americans would consider such an influx an unmitigated disaster for their community. Consider what a spectacular success it has been for the Cubans. and for Miami.
