Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960280145

President. I rise to support this amendment. I wish to set the record straight in saying this does not eliminate the righting of wrongs that were done years ago. and that it does not permit the exception of foreign migrant workers from both registering and fingerprinting and complying to the other things that have been required both for their protection. and other reasons. What it does do is provide for those folks back home. outside Washington. D.C.. out on the farm and the ranch. doing the work. obeying laws. paying the bills. to be permitted to operate without having big Government saddled on his back with about 6 feet of rules and regulations. which amounts to one thing that has already started.
