Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960279756

Some of the other Jews survived in the labor camps or by hiding in the forests. Some. with false papers. passed as Christians. while others remained alive in the confined quarters of an attic or cellar. After the war. most of the survivors emigrated to foreign lands because strangers dwelled in their former homes. All their possessions had been stolen. lost. or confiscated. from tablecloths and silver to suits and hats. With virtually none of those whom they had loved and known left alive. the survivor went from the hideousness of Nazi Germany to the vast loneliness of the postwar era.
