I would like to advise the gentleman from Maryland that in the conference report that is now before the committee. we have a total of $261 million for assistance to refugees who have come to this country. This is in addition to the $431 million already appropriated for this purpose in 1980that is for a total of $692 million this fiscal year. When we had the bill before the committee we agreed to the $100 million requested by the President in January principally for nonCuban refugees. We therefore had $100 million that was in the bill as presented to the House. An additional $100 millon was added on the floor of the House in chapter III for Cubans and Haitians.
