Officials in the Soviet Union have no justifiable reason to detain the family. They are. in effect. being held as hostages. The members of the Stolar family have been classified as refuseniks. who are defined by the free world as individuals continually refused the right to emigrate without cause. The free world should not tolerate such a gross violation of human rights. We must make it clear to the Soviet Union and all other nations who violate human rights that such action is intolerable.
