Mr. Speaker. on June 15. the LithuanianAmericans will join with Lithuanians throughout the free world in observing a solemn and tragic moment in their historythe military occupation and forcible incorporation of Lithuania into the Soviet Union and the subsequent deportation of 300.000 freedomloving Lithuanians to Siberian labor camps. The history of Lithuania is one of great progress and heartbreaking setbacks. but its people have never lost sight of their goal of freedom and selfdetermination. The people of Lithuania retain strong ties to their cultural past. They are endowed with courage admired by the United States and all of the free international community.
