Speech #960252296

It was a time in our national life when patriotism was a virtue that touched every home. In the little community where I lived in southern West Virginia. a coal mining community. there were people of many nationalities in that community. and some of my closest schoolmates were Hungarians and Italians. I knew a little lad by the name of Manuelit seems to me it was Manchini. but I am not surehis name was Manuel. His parents were from Italy. I think of another named Dominick Martina. whose parents were Italian immigrants. and then I think of Andy Choka. Andy Choka. I believe. was Czechoslovakian. but I am not now sure.
