Why were not those 13 Cubans put in 13 empty beds in the private sector? Instead of reimbursing the VA for their care. and denying medical treatment to eligible veterans. why was not the decision made to pay a private hospital in Florida or elsewhere to treat these patients? If the administration is intent on making south Florida repository for Castros jails. prisons. and mental institutions. then I believe they should have the foresight. the ability. and the proper direction to care for those refugees in what should be considered an appropriate manner. but. I do believe. just using commonsense. that we should take care of our own veterans first.
