This request the widow Beilin decided to fulfill. Mr. Beilins mother was granted permission to emigrate to Israel. but Yakov Beilin. his wife. and two children were refused. Nonetheless. despite her age and frailty. Yakov Beilins mother decided to make the move. His mother remains most distressed by being separated from her family. She writes: I have but one desire. I beg you to help me bring my son and his family to Israel. The few years that I have left to live I would like to spend together with them. Mr. Speaker. I hope the Soviet Union will exhibit respect for basic human rights and privileges. as guaranteed under the Soviet Constitution and the Helsinki accord. and reunite the Beilin family and other Soviet families in similar circumstances.*
