Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960231047

Mr. Speaker. I am again participating in the vigil for Soviet Jewry and again regret that the continuing persecution of Soviet Jews who wish to emigrate from the Soviet Union to join their loved ones in Israel makes this vigil necessary. For the third year in a row. I would like to bring to my colleagues attention the plight of Lev Roitburd. his wife Liliya. and their son. Sasha. who first applied for permission in 1972 to be reunited with their family in Israel. To recount their experiences over the following 8 years is to describe the now familiar pattern of intense harassment and demoralization.
