Following the recent arrest of Sakharov. Meiman was again interrogated. In a letter written in February of this year. Meiman wrote: I have been refused permission to emigrate many times since 1975. but so far it has always been a question of temporary detention. This January 30. I was told for the first time that I will never be released . . . I think this is due to. and a sign of. a deterioration and aggravation of the general situation ... My situation is aggravated by the fact that my health worsened just before all these troubles. without the possibility of receiving adequate medical care. having been expelled from the Academy Polyclinic in 1977.
