Anatoly Shcharansky has been illegally imprisoned for 3 long years in vioaltion of the Helsinki accords. and Andrei Sakharov faces the vindictive wrath of the Communists because he dares speak the terrible truth about the Soviet State. The Vashchenko and Chmykhalov families have been persecuted since 1962 because of their religious beliefs and denied the right to emigrate. I ask that the Congress of the United States and the American people reaffirm their commitment to the rights of man by decrying. protesting. and condemning this shameful subjugation of free men by Soviet Russia. and insisting upon. no. demanding. the freedom of these champions of mankinds liberty: Sakharov. Shcharansky.
