This is the penalty set forth under 18 U.S.C. 1001 for making a false statement in a matter within the jurisdiction of a Federal agency. under 18 U.S.C. 1002 for possessing false papers with intent to enable another to obtain money from the United States. under 18 U.S.C. 1423 for misuse of fraudulently obtained evidence of citizenship or naturalization. and under 8 US.C. 1306 for counterfeiting an alien registration card. The third section of the bill would exempt from the coverage of the measure any technical violations arising from: First. the protection by Federal law enforcement officials of witnesses pursuant to the Organized Crime Control Act of 1970. and second. authorized investigative and intelligence activities carried out by agents of Federal. State and local governments.
