Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960208985

Her leadership has been an inspiration to others who have worked long and hard to maintain the protests over the Soviet mistreatment of this brave man. Today. she lives in Jerusalem where she waits for her husband to join her. I would like at this time to share with you her thoughts on the third anniversary of her husbands arrest: DEAR FarENDs: For three long years my husband. Anatoly Shcharansky. has been in prison. He is one of many Soviet Jews who wanted to come to Israel and who appealed to the Soviet Union for permission to emigrate to Israel. The government refused them without explanation. The Jews appealed again and again.
