Zgoda now includes a predominantly English language section. Since 1908 the PNA has also published the Polish Daily Zgoda. which enjoys extensive circulation among Americans of Polish origin. particularly in the Midwest. During the years when the influx of Polish immigrants was heaviest. the PNA conducted citizenship classes. urging the foreign born to become citizens of the United States at the earliest opportunity and to involve themselves in the civic and political affairs of their respective communities. In 1944. the PNA became a leading force in the formation of the Polish American Congress. a representative organization of 12 million Americans of Polish origin. to demand justice for Poland as the keystone of European stability and to fight Communist encroachment here and abroad. Today. the president of the Polish National Alliance.
