Speech #960188320

Mr. Speaker. I would like to introduce into the REcoRD a poem by a constituent and close friend. Mr. Tom Logan of Manhatten Beach. He wrote it upon his return from Thailand where he visited many of the refugee camps for fleeing Cambodians. The ongoing crisis in Iran and the brutal Soviet subjugation of Afghanistan have diverted the attention of the world from the genocide which continues in the once prosperous and gentle land of Cambodia. where cruelty. death. and starvation now reign. We must not permit this genocide to be forgotten. Indeed. it is of utmost importance to keep in mind that the responsibility for the invasion of Afghanistan and the Cambodian genocide can be placed on the doorstep of the SovietUnion.
