Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960166033

Today I am introducing two House resolutions expressing the sense of the Congress that the executive branch should act against those Iranian nationals and diplomats who willfully violate American laws. The first resolution urges the Secretary of State to expel any diplomat. accredited to the United States. who deliberately advocates. incites or participates in actions which violate Federal or local laws that are designed to insure the public safety. such diplomats do a disservice to both our Nation and the one they represent. The second resolution. in response to recent actions by proKhomeini Iranian nationals here. urges the Attorney General to expel as expeditiously as possible any alien convicted of a deportable offense with special regard to acts of physical harm and destruction of property. None of these measures will deny any alien due process of the law. I hope my colleagues will join me in these initiatives.O
