It is an outrage that this Nation Is not better prepared to protect its citizens abroad. We should not secondguess the President of the United States in this type of a situation. but. when this country does act. it should be with swift. tough. and affirmative actionnot by pussyfooting around. President Carter has now started to take necessary steps in an attempt to solve this problem by ordering that the visas of Iranian citizens currently residing in this country. particularly the students. be verified. If any violation in the regulations exist. these individuals will be deported immediately. The President has cut off all importation of Iranian oil in an effort to nullify the Iranian threat of cutting off our supply. and I support him on this. I can well understand this and preliminary reports indicate that this will not jeopardize or disrupt our energy supplies.
