The use of force in an effort to try to rescue the American hostages in our Embassy in Tehran would certainly exacerbate the likelihood of their being murdered by their captors and would endanger the lives of the some 700 Americans still in Iran. But there are actions that we can take at home to register our disgust with the Ayatollah Khomeinis total disregard of international law and violation of all princifles of human decency. Today I am introducing a bill that would authorize the deportation of Iranian students. as well as students from all other nations. who have abused this Nations hospitality by participating in actions intended to further the tyranny in their home countries. We take immense pride in our system of education and have welcomed from other lands countless thousands of students who have a sincere desire to benefit from the best education available in the world. We will continue to welcome those who comport themselves to the discipline necessary to accomplish that objective.
