Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960140464

I thank the gentleman for yielding. Mr. Chairman. in August I had the opportunity. along with my colleague. the gentleman from Washington . to visit a refugee camp on the border of Thailand near Aranyaprathet. and I can tell the Members that the situation there is very. very grim. We had a chance to talk to a number of Cambodian refugees personally there. to have them tell us about the situation. The report that came back from the three Members of the other body who were there indicates clearly that there is tragic human necessity for this. and I think that the chairmans amendment is a good one. We have just got to do everything we can to help deal with this very significant problem.
