Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960130007

Vigil 1979 because I believe that it is essential that we. as a free nation. speak out on behalf of all those oppressed individuals throughout the world who are denied their basic human rights. Mr. Speaker. 2 years ago I learned about a young man named Benjamin Bogomolny who has been trying to leave the Soviet Union since 1972 but who has been denied emigration rights without explanation. Although Benjamins family and friends have been allowed to migrate to Israel. his request for a visa has been denied repeatedly. He has been subjected to frequent interrogation and harassment by the Soviet Government. His aartment has been ransacked and his life threatened. with no protection from the Soviet authorities.
