Cardinal Mindszenty was more than a martyr to freedom. and much more than a spiritual leader. He was. and continues to be after his death. the symbol of unity and freedom for the Hungarian Nation and its people. Cardinal Mindszenty is sorely missed by the thousands of Hungarian refugees who were welcomed to our Nation 19 years ago in the wake of the 1956 revolution against Soviet tyranny. I know that those Members of this House who had the privilege of meeting the Cardinal 1 year ago this week here at the Capitol will miss him as well. He is a man whose memory will be preserved in the annals of freedom forever.
