Speaker. I have another serious objection to this conference report. We are being asked to authorize the expenditure of U.S. taxpayer dollars for the expenses of Vietnamese refugees. I yield to no one in my support for assistance to the needy. the helpless. the starving. and desperate Vietnamese people who fled their homeland to avoid subjugation to a Communist regime. But I will not vote Federal funds to defray the cost of evacuating those Vietnamese who brought gold and jewelry with them. nor to pay the expenses of transporting exPremier Thieu. his family. and Vice Premier KY and his wife to this country together with their stockpile of gold.
